Tom Joad Was Here is a community street art project, in order for this to be a success we need you to be apart of this! All posters are free for download. We encourage users to download the posters hang, post, paste, distribute them etc. but please keep in mind that you are responsible for your actions. Please read the legal notice below for more information on how you can display a poster in a legal manner. The "Best of Show" poster will recieve a $50 (usd) prize.

Submit a Poster


Starting 10.21.08 Tom Joad Was Here will be accepting submissions. Please email your submission to info@tomjoadwashere.com. All mediums are accepted as long as it can be sent via email. The preferred poster size to be submitted is 11 x 17 and 8.5 x 11 without full-bleed so users can print the posters easily on their personal printers. This is a ongoing project so there no deadline for submissions but in order to be eligable for the $50 (usd) "Best of Show" award, all entries must be submitted before Jan. 1, 2009.

Feel free to submit your snap-shots to info@tomjoadwashere.com, preferably photos of the Tom Joad Was Here project in action, but feel free to send any photos of thought provoking art work or street art.

Legal Notice

Please be aware that Tom Joad Was Here is not responsible for any individual’s actions. Street art or graffiti on private property is against the law. A simple way to avoid this issue is also sometimes the most effective. For example putting up posters on designated areas, such as campus bulletin kiosks, and bulletin boards. Or tape them up on telephone poles much like a lost dog or garage sale posters. No one gets in trouble for hanging a garage sale poster. Also you could ask the owner' s permission, I know it sounds far fetched but sometimes art galleries and coffee shops enjoy public art.
